Common mistakes
- Sending it late. A message three days after the birthday shows you forgot. If you missed it, say so: “Belated happy birthday, [Name]!” is still better than nothing.
- Making it all about the offer. Lead with the wishes. The offer is a bonus.
- Group messages that look like group messages. Always use their first name.
- Texting at night or too early. Mid-morning is safe in any time zone your clients are in.
